DIY Vintage Brooch Necklaces

We recently had our 7th CRAFTMAS reveal with the Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme — and all I can say is WOW. These creative ladies made some crazy cool stuff!!! Today I am featuring this sophisticated project from Jenn McMurrer that she made with resourced vintage jewelry. I really love the vibe of it. My favorite was the one with the spider brooch. Take a look:

In Jenn’s words, here’s her inspiration and how-to’s for this pretty project:

What was your inspiration for this project?

I was inspired by the pearls and brooches that Audry Hepburn wears in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

What materials did you use?

8mm glass beads, bead string, crimp beads, lobster clasps, jump rings, pliers, and vintage brooches

Where did you get your materials?

Michaels, bead stores, and eBay

Cost of materials:

I would say the necklaces ranged from $15-25 to make

How did you make it?

Strung the beads to create the two strands, closed them off with crimp beads and attached jump rings and the clasp. Then I “pinned” the brooches to both strands.

How long did it take per item?

45 minutes

What was the hardest part about making this?

Finding and getting the brooches in time. I still have some showing up at my house!

What was the funnest part about making this?

Choosing the colors and finding the brooches.

Do you like it?

Yes, although in the end, I wish I would have done three strands each instead of two.
