These are some dangerous cookies

Posted in - Cookies & Party Peeking
on April 11th 2014

My roommate in grad school used to call me the Cookie Monster so… I might know a thing or two about addictive cookies.

I caution you. What I’m about to share with you is dangerous.

Dangerously good tasting and dangerously bad for your waistline.

Dangerous in that if you make them the day before you need to take …

Celebrating 6!

Posted in - Out and About
on April 9th 2014

Watch out world, this one turned six yesterday.

So how does a newly minted 6 yo choose to spend her special day?

It starts with excitedly waking up at 4 a.m., and a surprise visit from Chintz and Jewel who had left her a special present in her room.

Next up, donuts from Dunkin Donuts and opening a …

The Mominists

Posted in - Musings
on April 2nd 2014

THIS struck a nerve. It’s just one of many viral posts out there.

I am so over the haters in this world.

Stop pointing fingers and judging how other Mom’s should parent already.

Stop espousing about how enlightened you are now that you feel justified to ignore …

For the love of pie

Posted in - Out and About
on March 27th 2014

Let’s talk pie, shall we?

I grew up on pie. I luuuuuv pie.

I have such fond memories of my grandmother making pies – like ALL the time. I know for a fact that we never visited her house without being served pie (and vice versa for that matter). Grandma would save the extra crust, put it …

Our Dallas Spring Break Staycation continued, me + Princess Cupcake + my adopted child for the week. Except today, we added a few more of the Cupcake’s running buddies and their momma, backed up our 3rd row seats with boosters and took off for Glen Rose, Texas.

I’ve never been  – but I’ve been the purveyor …

Staycation Spring Break Craft

Posted in - How to Make
on March 12th 2014

I will freely admit that I asked a friend to borrow her child for the week.

When you have an only, it’s a lot of pressure to perform 100% of the time. You become their best friend, caretaker, entertainer, and they become your shadow. It can be rather much when you have to do things like, …

About Me

Hi. I’m Trista. And this is my blog. “Our” blog. Me and the Princess Cupcake. It’s where we share things that make memories in our little world. And sometimes we poke a little fun at the hubs. But he never reads our blog so it’s our little secret. Ours meaning yours and ours. Let’s keep it that way. No boys allowed. Because MommyUpgrade is about things that make being a mom an easier and a more fun place to be. If we wanted it to include him, we’d call it “parent upgrade” or something drab like that. And then we’d have to talk about golf clubs and LSU football recruiting. Bleh. No, he can get his own blog. It’s just us girls here. And we are dishing about cake porn, all things glitter, gadgets and toys that make our world go round, and sometimes we sip a little wine. Once in a while we’ll peek in on a fabulous party, or share a funny story. We’ll talk about things that make mom-life more interesting, and a little person’s life more awesome. All I know is that being a mom is the greatest blessing God can give and I am loving every minute of it. And that’s the way it should be, isn’t it? Every day better and more rich than the last? Well, that’s a “Mommy Upgrade” in my book. Join us on our journey.
