How to make mosaic mirror monogram letters

Who doesn’t need more mosaic mirror in their life?

Our 7th CRAFTMAS reveal was last week and I’m still gushing over all the incredible projects that these ladies made with our Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme. I’ll be featuring them over the next few weeks, and today I’m starting with one of our newest CE members, Anna Williams. Not only did she wrap her project in giant Tiffany-esque boxes…

She made these incredible mosaic mirror letters for each of us.

What did you make?
Mosaic Mirror Letter Tiles

Why did you choose it?
I thought it fit the classy image of the movie. The mirrors reminded me of the store Tiffany’s & diamonds.

What materials did you use?
MDF letters, mirror tiles, pre-mixed grout, food coloring, glass cutters, sponge, tiling trowel, sandpaper, white acrylic paint, silver leaf paint, picture hanger

Where did you get your materials?
Online (Blick Art Supply), Woodworking site online for letters, Michaels, Home Depot & Hobby Lobby

Cost of materials:
Average cost per letter = $15.00

How did you make it?
Put grout on letter, set tiles and cut to fit, then grouted over tiles, and painted white on all edges and back, then silver leaf painted the sides.

How long did it take per item?
Actual work time about 2-3 hours, with dry time, 3 days.

What was the hardest part about making this?
Waiting for the grout to dry because I just wanted to keep going!!

What was the funnest part about making this?
All of it! I liked putting together the tile puzzles!

Do you like it?
I loved it!

If you made it again, what would you change?
I would match the grout colors. The back of the mirror was missing on some of the tiles so there was some white grout peeking out.

Would you make it again and why?
Yes, and it would be fun to spell out a word and make for asoutside area in various colors.
