Menopause The Musical is great girlfriend fun

I haven’t laughed this hard at a musical EVER. Seriously. I snort-laughed, I laughed so hard there were tears in my eyes. I had a great belly laugh evening with girlfriends. Young girlfiends. I don’t care how old you are, Menopause The Musical: The Survivor Tour is a must-see this week.

The story backdrop is Bloomingdale’s Department Store in New York City where 4 disparate women bond over symptoms of “the change” during a lingerie sale. The hilarity that ensues is set to your favorite tunes from the 60’s – 80’s. And yep, after the curtain closes you’ll find it hard to resist the CD and amusing t-shirts to keep the giggles going long after you leave.

While the show’s cast is made up of breast cancer survivors and co-survivors, (You’ll recognize Marla Hooch from A League Of Their Own and a variety of other TV shows and movies), it never tackles the heavy topic of the big C. I kept waiting for the serious and dark moments – thankfully they never came. This is laugh on laugh throughout, and $2 of each ticket sold will benefit Susan G Komen® to further its mission to save lives and end breast cancer.

I totally understand why Menopause The Musical is the longest-running scripted musical production in Las Vegas and continues to entertain nightly at Harrah’s. It has traveled to more than 450 US cities, almost 300 internationals cities and 15 different countries – which is a testament to how popular and infectious the production is.

For my local girls, you can get tickets to the Music Hall at Fair Park production by visiting LiveAtTheMusicHall.com or calling 214.426.4768. Ticket prices are $37 – $60, with discounts available for groups of 10 or more. (Seriously, take 10 of your girlfriends) For tour dates in other cities, visit www.MenopauseTheMusical.com.

Ladies. Find an evening or a matinee between now and Sunday, July 26th to go see Menopause The Musical, the Survivor Tour. Your age doesn’t matter – we were some of the youngest in the audience and still laughed the whole way through. Grab a girlfriend, but do your husbands a favor and don’t ask them to come along. (Trust me on this one.) Show up a little early for a drink in the bistro and enjoy the intermission-free show.
