The Sneaky Chef comes to Dallas

Like most kids, the Princess Cupcake has a standard cache of foods that are deemed acceptable to eat.

Spaghetti, hot dogs, hamburger, chicken nuggets, steak, fish, tortillas, cheese, yogurt, nuts, crackers, chicken, sausage, broccoli, peas, carrots, corn, strawberries, grapes, bananas, blackberries and raspberries.

Rotate and repeat.

But they cannot touch. I repeat, cannot — under any circumstances — touch each other on the plate.

And they must be naked. No sauce of any kind. Scrape it off, rinse it off, lick it off… whatever you have to do. Plain food only, not even a bun.

The Cupcake likes the healthy things, which is good, but she also eats like a bird so I worry that she’s getting enough nutrients.

Making the most of what she eats is paramount and I’m not ashamed to say that I’m not beneath hiding vegetable puree in her otherwise normal meals (See our cauliflower muffins and banana peanut butter bread.) when I have the time. That’s the key, time. It feels like it takes a lot of extra time to puree all those yummy vegetables and sadly I admit to sacrificing her nutrition for convenience.

Until now.

The Sneaky Chef, Missy Chase Lapine, is the original mom who outsmarted her kids by hiding vegetables in their food, and she has developed packaged food for those of us stretching 26 hours out of our 24 hour day.

Can you hear the harps playing and the clouds parting?

I am thrilled! And can I just tell you how yummy they are!? I was lucky enough to receive a care package from the Sneaky Chef of their pasta, sauces, and no-nut peanut butter over the holidays we dove right in.

The Princess Cupcake and one of her besties loved the smooth red pasta sauce (we made it with meatballs) and the whole grain veggie spaghetti.

It was so good, I didn’t even save the leftovers for her, I ate them myself. (Shhhh.)

In case you were wondering, here’s the nutrition facts label to compare with your own pasta sauce:

And the no-nut peanut butter? When I asked the Princess Cupcake how her school lunch was, she said, “I ate every bite!” Not surprised, I ate it straight up with a spoon, and I suspect I’ll do it again. 😉

Here’s the exciting part – you can and taste see the Sneaky Chef on products in person this Saturday, January 11th at two different Central Market stores! She’ll be providing samples of her food AND giving away a $200 store gift card to a random shopper who has Sneaky Chef products in their card. The Sneaky Chef will also be featured on Good Day Dallas and The Broadcast on Friday morning.

You don’t want to miss this!
