DIY Felt Flower Wall Art

Today I’m featuring my friend Sabrina Perrenoud. Sabrina always comes up with crazy cool projects for our Craft Exchange, (check out these from the kid’s exchange) and this time was no exception. In fact, I loved what she made so much, I asked for a second so I could hang them both on my office wall. That doesn’t make me greedy, does it?

Well, take a look. You’ll understand why I can’t get enough of this project.

I know for a fact that she and her glue gun came out of this with a love-hate relationship, but that’s a sacrifice I’m glad she took. Here’s what Sabrina had to say about this fun and on-trend wall art. (And yes, that’s her hiding behind it.)

What did you make?

Why did you choose it?

Saw it on Pinterest a while back and wanted to try it, plus it looked easy 🙂

What materials did you use?

12×12 square blank wooded framed canvases, various colors of fabric to cover canvas, felt fabric for the flowers, lots and lots and lots of hot glue.

Where did you get your materials?

Hobby Lobby

Cost of materials:

Really, no idea. I did buy way too much fabric for the project because I don’t ever measure those things out. I just go buy lots of it and figure I’ll do something with the extra.

How did you make it?

I found a few different online tutorials. I first hot glued the fabric onto the canvas, cut out a template for my petals…then cut out the felt petals (10 large, 10 medium, 14 small). I hot glued all the felt cutouts to shape them in to petals, then hot glued those onto the canvas, layring the different sizes on top as I went. I then shaped and hot glued the center of the flower. I no longer have any finger prints.

How long did it take per item?

My first test subject took FOREVER, but I didn’t know what I was doing. After I got it down, it wasn’t too bad. Maybe an hour each. Not 100% sure because I would work on it some, go do stuff, and come back to it constantly.

If you made it again, what would you change?

The first one, I didn’t measure out the flower. So…it wasn’t centered very well. After that I measured them all. And where my plastic finger protectors that I had sitting right next to me the entire time.

Would you make it again and why?

Yes, I want to make some for either my craft room, play room or Abby’s room. We’ll see.
