The Cupcake loves Alvin and the Chipmunks. Looking into my crystal ball, I know that one day she will have an awesome Alvin and the Chipmunks birthday party but for this year, (2011) she has been eagerly awaiting the release of Alvin and the Chipmunks, Chipwrecked. She’s been mimicking “Hellllo Laadies,” “AAAALLLLLVVVVIIIINNNNN” and “I shake my tail back and forth, I shake my tail back and forth…” for weeks. When we finally got to see it, it was as funny as advertised and while I’ll admit to thoroughly enjoying the movie, Princess gave it two enthusiastic thumbs up. As we were leaving the theater she asked if we could go see it again. So I thought this night’s theme would be a winner.
If you haven’t seen it, this Elf on a Shelf night might not make sense, but you know that Chintz couldn’t let a little chipmunk steal his show.Okay, I admit. I think this one was totally lost on her. I guess her movie comprehension isn’t totally developed at 3 because there was a total disconnect. I mean, I thought it was pretty relatable. I guess I’ve got elf-fatigue.
She asked what the pecans were right before she ate them, (in the movie they used rocks to spell SOS). She asked why the Elf ona Shelf was sitting on a “blue thing” which was the water around the island where they were sailing off on the raft, the raft which was made with popsicle sticks.
He was even wearing a gold earring on his hat like the bracelet crown on Jeanette, and Chintz was surrounded by “gold” coins on the raft like the secret treasure on the island. And of course, there’s “titelist” the golf ball friend from the island as well. She didn’t even seem to notice the palm tree and other plants to simulate the island, or that his clothes were tattered. Sigh.
One more night. “Imma Survivor, I’m not gonna give up, I’m not gon stop, I’m gon work harder…”

Everyday should be a party, but that would be EXHAUSTING! I do like to plan for a big bash though. Here’s a few ways that we like to level up holidays and celebrations!
