Not your 80’s jeans!

There are a lot of things about the 80’s that I have left behind. Big curly hair, neon clothes, shoulder pads, striped eyeshadow, scrunchies, rubber bracelets… A wave of nostalgia comes over me when I see Star Wars and smurfs, shirts that are longer in back than the front, and those slouch boots.

When I got an invitation from Lee Jeans, that same warm feeling came over me and a smile crept across my face. “Hello friend,” I thought to myself. I do think it’s been that long since I wore a pair of Lee jeans. In fact, yes, this is an actual tag and receipt from my Lee Jeans circa March 1984.

I was happy to hear they were back.

How wrong I was. They’ve never actually left! Lee Jeans have been selling for nearly 100 years. And let me tell you, these are not the Lee jeans you remember from the iconic 80’s. Not even close to the mom jeans you may remember. Lee jeans have evolved. (But their price hasn’t.)

My first clue was that this Lee Jeans style party was hosted at the swanky urban loft hotel NYLO.

My second clue was the huge range of fits, styles, washes, and colors — for men and women. The lucky bloggers who wore them to the event were bragging about how comfortable they are. With just the right amount of stretch, they were flattering on all body types.

My plus one for the night was Sabrina and she came hungry and with a single challenge: Show her a pair that doesn’t gape in the waist when you sit down. Turns out Lee has solved that embarrassing problem with a unique waistband that’s a smooch taller and cut so your panties aren’t showing when you go to pick up the umpteenth thing your child has dropped in your path.

I thought for sure they couldn’t meet my fit challenge as I am weirdly short waisted and shaped like a boy. Buying jeans is always so much trauma that I avoid it at all costs. I have some jeans that I can only wear with heels, some with long shirts, some with tight shirts because the jeans are baggy, some with flats…. It’s a complicated wardrobe issue.

Surprisingly, the Lee girls sized me up and gave me two pairs that fit perfectly, are snug where you want them (they call that feature, “slimming”) AND are stylish.

My Lee’s are now hanging in the front of my closet as “go to” jeans, perfect for boots or flats. I even wore the black pair to the trade show I was working last week.

Now I got those jeans for free, (thank you Lee!), but I did checkout their website to see how much a replacement pair might be. Prices range from under $25 to very expensive. My next pair may be these:

Good grief, they’re under $20. And nothing about them screams crimped hair, wine coolers and Duran Duran.

(SPONSORED POST: I received two pairs of jeans from Lee Jeans prior to writing this post, however all opinions are my very own.)
