Today marks the day that North Texas will be seeing those rainbow boxes outside all the local Walmarts, Lowes, and Krogers. Yes, Girl Scout cookie season is fully underway, but booth sales officially start NOW.
I know you want to buy from all those cute girls, but there’s only so many cookies you can stuff into your mouth at one time, or your freezer for that matter, right? (Don’t forget about the Troop to Troop program where you can send your boxes to members of the armed forces.) So it’s time to get creative with America’s favorite cookies, and I’ve got the recipe roundup for you. Here are my 2017 picks for the best Girl Scout cookie recipes.
But before we launch face first into this culinary greatness, let’s review WHY there are so many names of the cookies and they look different from Dallas to Fort Worth. There are actually TWO national bakers that create the cookies for the Girl Scouts: ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers. My troop happens to fall on the Dallas side of the metroplex and you can see from this handy map, that we are of the Little Brownie Bakers camp. If the girl scout cookie names look different to you, your region may be in the ABC Bakers territory. Either way, they are darn good cookies!
Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s get to the recipes!
Today on NBC Affiliate KTEN with Sarah Strackhouse, I featured:
Trefoils Toffee and Chocolate Bark with Toasted Pecans. (I substituted the almonds for pecans because Texas is in the South. We always choose pecans first!) You can find this recipe on the Girl Scouts site here.
Savannah Muddy Buddies by Heaven In A Dish. You can find her recipe here.
Samoas Coconut Cream Filled Croissant Donuts that was a prize winning entry on the Little Brownie Bakers website. You can find that recipe here.
But let’s not forget my own creation! Trefoils Cookie Balls. It’s boozy though, not the best for the morning show.
While I couldn’t feature everything I was intrigued by, I would like to make these this cookie season:
Fried Samoas Shrimp. Hello Super Bowl, have some shrimp! Find the recipe on Little Brownie Bakers here.
Tagalong Cupcakes by The Culinary Chronicles look scrumptious. Find the recipe here.
Lemon Icebox Pie by The Sundress Chef. You can find this mouth-watering recipe here.
White Chocolate Thin Mint Popcorn by LollyJane. Find the recipe here.
Thin Mint Gooey Cake Bars by Picky Palate. Find the recipe here.
And lastly, these look so amazing: Tagalong Stuffed Oreos. Find the recipe (and funny story) from The Domestic Rebel here.
Get those stretchy pants ready! What’s your favorite cookie???
