You know it’s winter when you see rainbow boxes full of girl scout cookies with shivering little girls peeking over the tables outside all the local Walmarts, Lowes, and Krogers. Yes, Girl Scout cookie season is an annual tradition and the troops love your support — especially when it’s raining!
I know you can’t say no to those cute girls, so let’s give you a way to consume all those 267 boxes you bought on Saturday. (Don’t forget about the Troop to Troop program where you can send your boxes to members of the armed forces.) No judgment if a box of cookies and Netflix is your ideal date, but if you are looking to incorporate these beloved recipes into NEW tasty treats, I’ve got the recipe roundup for you. Below are my picks for the best Girl Scout cookie recipes.
Wait, WHY are my Girl Scout Cookies Named Different than yours?
But before we launch face-first into this culinary greatness, let’s review WHY there are so many names of the cookies and they look different from Dallas to Fort Worth. There are actually TWO national bakers that create the cookies for the Girl Scouts: ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers. If you’re in our DFW area, it’s extra confusing because the dividing line goes between Dallas and Tarrant counties. You can see from this handy map, that Dallas is in the Little Brownie Bakers camp, Fort Worth is in ABC Bakers territory. They have slightly different names and recipes for their cookies, but either way, they are addicting – and people are loyal to each!
Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s get to the recipes!
My Favorite Girl Scout Cookie Recipes
Recently on NBC Affiliate KTEN with Sarah Strackhouse, I featured:
Shortbread Trefoils Toffee. (I substituted the almonds for pecans because Texas is in the South. We always choose pecans first!) You can find this recipe on the Cookie Madness site here.
Samoas Coconut Cream Filled Croissant Donuts that was a prize winning entry on the Little Brownie Bakers website. You can find that recipe here.
But let’s not forget my own creation! Trefoils Cookie Balls. It’s boozy though, not the best for the morning show.
Here are a few I didn’t feature live, but I would like to make these this cookie season. My favorite is at the end:
Fried Samoas Shrimp. Hello Super Bowl, have some shrimp! Find the recipe on Little Brownie Bakers here.
Tagalong Peanut Butter Parfaits by My Baking Addiction look scrumptious. Find the recipe here.
White Chocolate Thin Mint Popcorn by LollyJane. Find the recipe here.
Thin Mint Gooey Cake Bars by Picky Palate. Find the recipe here.
And lastly, these look so amazing: Tagalong Stuffed Oreos. Find the recipe (and funny story) from The Domestic Rebel here.
Get those stretchy pants ready! What’s your favorite cookie???
